ABOUT THE CONCERT
An evening brimming with passion, drama, and the magic of Italian opera: Jonathan Tetelman, one of the most sought-after tenors of his generation, dedicates himself to the great masters of bel canto – Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini. Accompanied by the Northwest German Philharmonic under Constantin Orbelian, he presents moving arias, duets, and symphonic interludes that encompass the full spectrum of Italian operatic art – from heroic brilliance to the most delicate lyrical intimacy.
The concert spans the passionate world of Verdi and Puccini. It opens with the powerful Sinfonia from Verdi's early opera "Oberto," followed by poignant moments from "I due Foscari" and "La traviata": Jacopo Foscari's lament, Alfredo's desperate search, and the famous father-son duet with Giorgio Germont. The somber grandeur of "Don Carlo" is also present—with the Infante's introspective aria and the moving friendship duet with Rodrigo.
After the intermission, the stage opens to Puccini's sound world: the bittersweet conversation between Rodolfo and Marcello from "La bohème," the delicate intermezzo from "Madama Butterfly," and the poignant farewell scene between Sharpless and Pinkerton. A symphonic interlude from "Manon Lescaut" is performed before Tosca, with the lyrical romance "Recondita armonia" and the existential aria "E lucevan le stelle," brings the dramatic climax to a close.
